History of Grand Lake Towne

Area Overview

Grand Lake Towne, Mayes County Oklahoma is a small incorporated residential area on the shore of Grand Lake O’ Cherokees, located four miles north of Langley and two miles south of Ketchum.  

Grand Lake Towne was first developed and incorporated in the early 1960’s by George Creager of Oklahoma City. In 1962, T. Thompson pushed for Grand Lake Towne to be recognized officially by the Oklahoma State Legislature as an incorporated township of Oklahoma and In 1965 Clem McSpadden introduced an Oklahoma Senate Resolution that confirmed the town’s incorporation.
